★Points lost

The main reasons for losing points are as follows:

① The ball was not returned over the net before it bounced a second time;

② The player's body or racket touches the net during the serve;

③ The ball returned touches the ground outside the opponent's court boundary line, or a fixed object, etc.;

④ Intentionally touching the ball with the racket more than once;

⑤ Mistake in returning an aerial ball;

⑥ Hitting the ball over the net;

⑦ Throw the racket to hit the ball.

★Line-pressing ball

A ball that lands on the line of play is considered in bounds.

★ Doubles serving order

At the start of each game, the serving side decides who serves first. At the start of the second game, the opposing side decides who serves first. In subsequent games, the serving side takes turns serving.

★Order of receiving serves by both sides

At the start of the first game of each set, the serving side decides who serves first, and the opposing side similarly decides who serves first at the start of the second game.

The third game is served by the other player from the serving team in the first game.

The fourth game is served by the other player from the serving side of the second game, and the service continues in this order for all subsequent games.

★ Doubles Counterattack

After receiving the serve, both sides should take turns having one of their players return the ball.

If a player touches the ball with their racket after a teammate has hit it, the opposing team scores a point.

II. Tennis Scoring Method

In tennis, men's singles and doubles are best-of-three or best-of-five sets, while women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles are best-of-three sets. If a player hits the ball out of bounds, into the net, or lets the ball bounce twice before hitting it again, they lose one point.

The first player to reach 4 points wins a game, and the first player to win 6 games wins a set.

After each game, the two players switch serves.

The specific scoring method is as follows:

1. Win by one point

The opponent is awarded a point in the following situations:

★When the server commits two consecutive service errors or foot faults.

★When the receiver hits the ball with their racket before it touches the ground, or when the ball touches their body or clothing.

★When the ball is not returned over the net before it bounces a second time.

★When the ball is returned and touches the ground, a fixed object, or other object outside the opponent's court boundary.

★When failing to return an aerial ball.

★During a match, if a player intentionally drags or catches the ball with their racket, or intentionally touches the ball with their racket more than once.

★During a match, if a player intentionally drags or catches the ball with their racket, or intentionally touches the ball with their racket more than once.

★During the match, if a player's body, racket, or other equipment touches the net, net posts, singles posts, rope or wire rope, center strap, net tape, or the court surface within the opponent's court area.

★Returning a ball that has not yet crossed the net (hitting the ball over the net).

★When throwing the racket to hit the ball.

2. Win a game

There are two main types of scoring:

★ One point is awarded for each point won, and the first player to reach 4 points wins the game.

★When both sides have 3 points, it is called "Tie". After the tie, if one side scores 1 point first, it is called "Advantage Serve" or "Advantage Serve".

A player must score one more point to win a game, meaning a net win of two points is required to win the game.

(1 point is fifteen, 2 points is thirty, and 3 points is forty)

3. Win a game

★The first side to win six games wins a set.

★If both sides win five games each, the side that wins two more games by a net margin wins the game.

4. Decisive Game

When the score is tied at 6 in a set, there are two scoring methods:

★Long-set system: A player wins a set by winning two games in a row.

★Short format (except for the deciding set, unless otherwise specified before the match):

① The first player to reach 7 points wins the game and the set (if the score is tied at 6, the player must win by two points).

②The server serves the first point, then both sides serve the second and third points, and then take turns serving two points until the end of the game;

③ The first point is served from the right court, the second point from the left court, and the third point from the right court;

④ The players must switch sides every 6 points and at the end of the deciding set.

Tennis matches are very time-consuming; sometimes a single match can last six or seven hours, or even into the next day.

To shorten match time, short-set format is commonly used in matches.

III. Key Points of Tennis Service

Under normal circumstances, tennis service staff should arrive 15 minutes early, change into the hotel's uniform, complete the handover procedures, and fulfill the tasks assigned by the previous shift.

Specifically, tennis services mainly include the following:

1. Preparation

★ Clean the area you are responsible for, including the service counter and lounge, such as vacuuming, wiping the counter, and emptying the trash cans; arrange guest rackets, balls and other equipment neatly, and arrange guest chairs and coffee tables neatly and wipe them clean.

★Inspect the court facilities to ensure they are in good condition. If any problems are found, address them promptly or notify the engineering department for repairs.

2. Reception work

★When guests arrive, the waiters should take the initiative to greet them and greet them warmly and politely.

★ Inquire whether guests have made reservations. For guests with reservations, introduce the tennis court facilities, rental fees, charges, and services provided. For guests without reservations, if the court is full, politely inform them that they need to make a reservation in advance and ask them to wait.

★After clarifying the situation, the waiter should issue an entry record sheet according to the guest's request, noting the start and end times and venue number.

If guests need to rent rackets, the server should assist them in selecting suitable rackets and balls before guiding them to the court.

★ Inquire with guests in a timely manner whether they need a coaching partner. If so, report to the supervisor promptly and arrange a coaching partner. During breaks in the game, staff should provide towels and drinks as needed.

★When a guest is about to finish the number of games on the original bill, the server should proactively ask if they would like to continue the game. The server should then go to the cashier to continue the game on the guest's behalf, and after checking that the sports equipment used by the guest is in good condition, guide the guest to the service desk to complete the checkout procedures.

3. End of work

When guests finish playing, they should promptly check whether the guest equipment is in good working order.

After completing the checkout process for the guests, take the initiative to say goodbye.

★At the end of the business day, fill out the business record form, then clean the court, arrange the balls and rackets neatly, turn off the power, lock the door, and leave work.
